"What do you think about the coastal fishery?"
What is this about?
As part of balt_ADAPT, a study on tourism & small-scale coastal fisheries started on July 29, 2022. We visited various ports in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Greifswald & Boltenhagen) and Schleswig-Holstein (Eckernförde & Heiligenhafen) to record people's perceptions of small-scale coastal fisheries using Q-methodology (a playful, yet scientific way to survey people's opinions).
The Q-method is a research approach at the interface of qualitative and quantitative methods and is used in particular to capture complex opinions, attitudes and value orientations from a subjective perspective.
The respondents were handed 27 cards with statements about small-scale coastal fisheries. The respondents sorted the cards on the so called "Q-board" into certain fields, depending on how much the respondent agreed or disagreed with a statement (see illustration of the Q-board below).
The results of the study are expected to be published on this page in mid-2024.
